Following the news of coach Xavi Hernandez’s continuity, Barcelona must now draw attention to the forthcoming summer transfer window.
Considering the Catalans’ woes in domestic and European competitions, new arrivals are expected to fortify the squad.
However, departures will be just as crucial, as Barça aims to revert to the 1:1 rule in La Liga and lighten the wage bill.
Ansu Fati and Clement Lenglet expected to hit the exit door
Indeed, according to SER, Barcelona intends to part ways with certain loanees like Ansu Fati and Clement Lenglet this summer.
Both players moved to Premier League clubs last summer, with Fati bringing his skills to Brighton and Lenglet signing with Aston Villa.
Even so, none of them have quite lived up to expectations. Fati has endured a tumultuous time owing to injury lapses, with manager Roberto De Zerbi drip-feeding him minutes throughout the season.
Meanwhile, Lenglet has irregularly featured for Unai Emery’s side too and is not deemed worthy of returning to the Catalan outfit.
As such, the club could benefit by parting ways with the pair and use their possible funds to reinforce key areas of the squad, such as the defensive midfield and left-wing positions.
