Barcelona celebrate goal

Heading into the final game of the season, Barcelona took on Sevilla away at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium.

The Catalans took the lead early in merely the 15th minute as Cancelo and Lewandowski combined fantastically.

But after enjoying a spell of sustained possession and control, Sevilla put their foot on the gas and dug back in.

The hosts began exploiting opportunities in transition and forced Ter Stegen to get busy. Eventually, Youssef En-Nesyri put things level as Sevilla managed to close the half on a high.

Barcelona made amends after the half-time break and their efforts bore fruit around the hour mark when Fermin scored a fabulous goal from distance.

Sevilla continued to ask questions of Barcelona’s defense in the closing stages of the game, yet Barcelona ultimately got past the finish line with the all-important three points in what was coach Xavier Hernandez’s final game in charge.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen: 8/10

Ter Stegen made a couple of great saves in the first half, including a diving save to prevent a near-certain goal. He carelessly got nutmegged by Youssef En-Nesyri, but continued to make solid saves after proceedings.

Jules Kounde: 5.5/10

Kounde looked rusty playing out from the back and misplaced many passes. Moreover, he was not as solid as he usually is in defensive duels.

Pau Cubarsi: 7/10

Although Cubarsi should have been better positioned to prevent Sevilla’s opener when they broke through on the break, the youngster held his own well in ground duels.

Inigo Martinez: 6.5/10

The veteran center-back was minimally tested on the defensive end and was not a main avenue for progression. However, he exercised his duties calmly and effectively, clearing the danger when needed

Joao Cancelo: 8/10

His pass for Lewandowski allowed the Catalans to take the lead early. Despite being mispositioned at times, he was solid in duels and prevented Ocampos from scoring with a great last-ditch tackle. He also struck the post with a great strike.

Andreas Christensen: 7/10

Partnering Gundogan in a double pivot, Christensen showcased security in possession. He carried the ball well and seldom gave the ball away. However, he was not always well-placed to win the ball back.

Ilkay Gundogan: 8/10

Another clinic in midfield from the German maestro. He passed his way out of the Sevilla pressure and offered tranquility in moments of chaos. Gundogan also earned an assist for Fermin’s goal, making this his 9th assist in La Liga.

Pedri Gonzalez: 8/10

The Canary Islander was direct and highly active in the opposition box. He was unlucky not to earn an assist early on and came incredibly close to scoring twice, with a good-headed attempt and another strike hitting the woodwork.

Lamine Yamal: 7

The excessive game time appears to be catching up to Yamal as the youngster looked fatigued and devoid of the spark that usually defines him. Still, he had a few successful dribble attempts and combined well with his associates.

Robert Lewandowski: 8

Scoring a fantastic goal from a tight angle, Lewandowski continued his fine run of form inside the final third. He also maturely provided a great headed-chance to Pedri in the first half.

Fermin Lopez: 8.5

Deployed as the inverted left winger, Fermin was closer to goal and did what he does best: creating chaos and embracing the back of the net.

His passes were sharp, his runs were precise and he also worked his socks off out of possession. Ultimately his match-winning golazo turned out to give Barcelona the all-important three points.

Substitutes

Romeu: 7/10

Ferran Torres: 6.5/10

Joao Felix: 6.5/10
