La Masia proves once again to be the superior breeding ground for juvenile talent, with gifted players being produced in abundance. While it may be true that Barcelona is lacking in funds and unable to buy hot shot players in contrast to rivals such as Real Madrid, it is parallelly evident that they make up for that by going one step further and generating, said hot shots.
One such ingenious is Pau Victor who parted ways with Girona for an economical €2.5 million for a 5-year contract with the first team. He has since risen to fame with his stellar performances during this pre-season saga, scoring 3 goals in 2 games and snagging the MOTM award on account of his dominance over long-time adversary, Real Madrid.
The 22-year-old center-forward enjoyed the last season on loan from Girona at Barca Atletic, where his efforts bore the fruit of 20 goals to his name and the shiny title of top scorer in the third division.
Unsurprisingly, his recent form has made the concept of a plausible loan exit for the youngster an unfavorable notion amongst the Blaugranes, with Matte Moretto (h/t Reshad Rehman) confirming as much.
Hansi Flick neither confirmed nor denied the rumors by saying, in regards to the possibility, “We’ll see. The door is always open for the first team.” With no major transfers as of yet, fresh legs such as his should be coveted.
Whether or not he will be able to stretch his goal-scoring form beyond the pre-season fixtures will determine if he will be lost to a sea of swarming talents or if he will be able to climb the ladder of success, bypassing the weight of the expectations placed upon his youthful shoulders.
