Vitor Roque’s form at Barcelona has been a far cry from the pre-determined expectations written out for him. The 19-year-old forward, with a seemingly bright future with the Blaugranes fell short, failing to fulfill his prophecy.
Instead of dominating the pitch, he became familiarised with the bench under former coach Xavi Hernandez, who doubted his ability. Still, this dry spell continued to prevail under Hansi Flick as well, trampling all hopes of the pre-season run becoming a turning point for his future with Barcelona. This perspective was driven home by the overpowering success of emerging talent Pau Victor.
Two major offers arise for the novice player
All hope is not lost for the struggling rookie, as according to Jijantes FC, the Catalans have been presented with two promising deals during this summer transfer window, which have piqued the interest of Andre Cury, Roques’s agent.
The first of the two offers is from a notable Serie A team for a permanent transfer deal, which conforms with Barcelona’s preference to permanently offload the youngster and reinvest the cash elsewhere.
This would mean a move to Italy for him, where he could lay the foundations of a fresh career without the intensity of Spanish football, which brings with it many burdens. While the name of the club remains under wraps, it is widely rumored to be SS Lazio, who have hinted at bringing over the Brazilian international.
Next in order is a deal from a renowned team from the doubly renowned Premier League, which would offer Roque the enviable prospect of playing amongst football royalty.
With past attention directed his way from England; he is understandably unvexed; in fact, according to SPORT, if Roque’s hand were forced, he would prefer a move to Serie A.
With Barca’s ostensibly constant lack of cash flow, they would be more than happy to dispose of the benchwarmer for an adequate price, opening up more room to maneuver for the Catalan giants and clearing a path back to glory with the help of new additions.
