Following Barcelona’s impressive exploits against Real Madrid, the Catalans continued their trend of registering five goals on the scoreboard.
Barcelona were a constant threat going forward, barely allowing Betis room to breathe. With goals from Gavi, Jules Kounde, Raphinha, Ferran Torres, and Lamine Yamal, the Blaugranes have secured themselves a ticket in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals.
Here are the Player Ratings from Barcelona’s dominant 5-1 victory.
Inaki Pena: 8
Pena pulled off an incredible save in the first half and was reliable playing out from the back. His composure and reliability while playing out from the back were evident throughout the match. Although the penalty concession denied him a well-deserved clean sheet, he came agonizingly close to stopping Roque’s spot-kick
Pau Cubarsi: 8.5
A playmaker at center-back, Cubarsi continued to pierce through opposition lines with precision. He was barely tested defensively thanks to Barça’s sheer control over the game, but when called into action, he valiantly stole back possession.
Ronald Araujo: 8
With his continuity all but assured, Araujo delivered a performance we’ve grown accustomed to over the years. He played out from the back responsibly, won a large share of his duels, and made a vital last-ditch tackle.
Jules Kounde: 9
Shades of Dani Alves were visible from Kounde tonight. He coordinated with Yamal’s movements superbly, scoring a stellar half-volley off his assist and unluckily having another great goal ruled out. Struck some wonderful diagonal balls into the opposition’s box too. Sadly the penalty he conceded chalked off some points.
Gerard Martin: 7.5
His overlapping runs and the timing of his movements helped Barça’s structure considerably. While Martin wasted many crossing opportunities and was a let-down with his first touch, he improved notably after the break.
Frenkie de Jong: 8
Frenkie played an effective supporting role from the base of midfield as he calmly kept things ticking on the ball and made a couple of good blocks out of possession. His assist for Yamal’s ruled-out goal was outstanding.
Pedri: 9
He may not show up on the scoresheet, but Pedri was responsible for crafting many impactful final-third actions. He released runners regularly, played some lovely cross-field switches – completing 7 out of 7 long balls – and was well situated to regain possession.
Gavi: 9
The youngster opened his account early by receiving the ball tenderly on his right foot before finishing it with his left. Gavi viciously pounced on vacant spaces in Betis’ back-line, deftly playing between the lines and circulating possession.
Raphinha: 9
Raphinha remains relentless in front of goal. He looked sharp on the ball, made several runs behind Betis’ defense, and rewarded Yamal’s incredible run with a well-taken finish.
Dani Olmo: 9
Deployed as a false 9, Olmo enabled the team to overload the central areas, exploiting Betis’ defensive vulnerabilities. Despite being unfortunate not to get on the scoresheet—hitting the woodwork and coming agonizingly close on several occasions—he made his mark with assists for Gavi and Ferran.
Lamine Yamal: 10
What we’re witnessing is truly special. Yamal dismantled Betis with dazzling dribbles, precise passes, and well-taken goals. Although one was ruled out, he capped off his masterclass with a brilliant finish. The 17-year-old was at the heart of every bright moment, making this one of his finest Barça performances.
