Going from being a prodigy to a fallen star, Ansu Fati’s career took a nosedive that left many astounded and some heartbroken. Picking up an injury back in 2020 that many deem the catalyst to his troubles, the youngster has never been the same.
In recent news, a statement released by the club has confirmed that the 22-year-old has acquired another injury to his thigh whilst in training, effectively ruling him out for an estimated four weeks.
The statement reads, “Ansu Fati suffered a muscle injury to the biceps femoris of his right thigh during training on Wednesday. He is expected to be out for around four weeks,”
This means the burnt-out wonder child will miss the clashes against Celta Vigo, Brest, Las Palmas, Mallorca, Real Betis, and Borussia Dortmund at a minimum though presumably, Fati is grateful for the grace given to him by the international break.
Missing the start of the season courtesy of a foot injury, the La Masia graduate hasn’t seen much action under new coach Hansi Flick, and even after his return to the team, his dry spell has continued as he remains quite low in the pecking order for the German mentor.
Struggling to revert to his once beautiful form, the young forward is in a constant state of tug-of-war with his injury-prone self. His fall from grace is one that could be studied for generations to come.
If his recovery period is extended he might miss out on the rest of the year which could even mark the end of his journey with the Blaugranes due to rumors of a possible departure for the forward in the approaching January transfer window.
Though his future might be up in the air, he will always have the support of the Culers who are beyond familiar with his talent and hope for it to be honed either at Barcelona or perhaps elsewhere.
