The mythical specimen that is Lamine Yamal has stifled the skepticism aimed his way with his worldly performances following the commencement of the 2024/25 season.
At only 17 years he has dominated the field with his plethora of skills and the unique ability to combine them, creating plays that leave fans tongue tied. Whenever you expect his luck to run out he proves it’s not luck at his back, but rather raw talent and adeptness.
Yamal surpasses preceding legends
The prodigy has become the youngest player in La Liga to provide 10 assists at a league level and 20 assists inclusive of all competitions. These are more than numbers, they are a testament to his streak of being a difference-maker in matches.
It took Messi himself, till the ages of 20,21 respectively to reach these stats, showing the caliber of the juvenile in comparison to one of the greatest. He is a walking testament to the accomplishments of La Masia which remains superior to all other youth academies producing young talents in abundance.
His versatile nature was made obvious when he overshadowed experienced players with decades of experience at his 16 years of age on one of the biggest international stages, the euros, snagging the young player of the tournament award. He showcased his ability to play with ease and fluidity beyond a league level and in unfamiliar territory.
Yamal being an adolescent now, we can only imagine how he will perform with more experience and the ability to hone his technique in a professional and mature environment.
It is, however, important to not cripple him at the dawn of his career by overworking him and as such he should not be made a crutch for the Blaugranes.
