As we have reached the end of the 2023/24 La Liga season, the league has decided to announce the season awards. Barcelona’s 16 year old wonderkid, Lamine Yamal secured the distinction of winning the La Liga Young Player of the Year.

At the tender age of 16, no footballer has ever had the season that Lamine Yamal did during his 2023/24 campaign. The 16 year old made himself an irreplaceable figure in Xavi’s team. It can certainly be established that he will be back in more prolific form for next season.

Lamine Yamal’s output has been unheard of for a 16 year old playing first division European football. However, more than his goal contributions, it is Yamal’s crafty talents on the ball which are most impressive. Yamal’s audacity to confidently take on any defender tasked to stop him is utterly remarkable. Moreover, the La Liga Young Player of the Year has already shown the vision and abilities to excel as a playmaker on the wing.

Winning this award will do wonders for Lamine Yamal’s confidence within the foreseeable future. Beating out some exquisite Under-23 talents to secure this distinction must mean a great deal. The footballing world most certainly recognises Yamal as one for the future.
